Are you considering having teeth extracted and dentures placed immediately? During the free intake we listen to your wishes and explain which tests, alternatives and contact moments are necessary.
Your wishes start with an assessment, not with extraction
If you want to have one or more teeth removed, a dental examination will first take place. The qualified dentist will discuss the diagnosis, conservative alternatives, risks, recovery, costs and your consent. Only then will it be decided together whether removal is appropriate. The removal can be carried out at an agreed treatment time by Implant Company, an independent healthcare provider who treats within our practice. Van Hoften Tandprothetiek tailors the prosthetic part and the planning accordingly.
What is an immediate denture?
An immediate denture is made before extraction and is placed immediately after tooth removal. This way you don't have to go home without teeth. Because the mouth changes during healing, checks and adjustments are important. Relining or later replacement may be necessary. Also read our extensive patient information about the immediate denture or immediate prosthesis.
Possible route
- Introduction and examination of teeth, gums and general health.
- Discuss which teeth can be saved and what alternatives there are.
- Cost estimateing, planning and personal instructions.
- Impressions or scans and fabrication of the immediate prosthesis.
- Extraction by the qualified dentist and immediate denture placement if appropriate.
- Wound assessment, aftercare, adjustment and monitoring of healing.
Aftercare
After placement, adjustment may be required. A pressure spot, pain, a sharp edge or problems with eating and speaking are reasons to contact us. Do not adjust the prosthesis yourself.
Costs and reimbursement
You will receive a written cost estimate in advance. The final reimbursement depends on your insurance or health insurance fund, policy conditions, contracting, patient contribution, deductible and any prior permission. If in doubt, always ask for written confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many appointments are needed?
This varies per oral situation and method. Not every patient needs a definitive impression, bite assessment or fitting.
Do I know in advance what it costs?
You will receive a cost estimate in advance. Check the possible reimbursement with your insurer or health insurance fund.
Can I still contact you after fitting?
Yes. Aftercare and assessment are part of the guidance.
Costs and reimbursement
What is reimbursed in this situation?
The explanation below is general. Your treatment, billing codes and insurance conditions determine the final reimbursement.
Netherlands
The extraction of teeth and molars for adults is usually not reimbursed by basic insurance. Additional dental insurance may be able to pay part of the costs. Temporary or complete dentures may be covered by basic insurance: 75% of this is usually reimbursed and you pay a 25% statutory patient contribution. The mandatory deductible may also apply.
The extractions by Implant Company and the prosthesis by Van Hoften Tandprothetiek are separate treatments and can be included in separate cost estimates or invoices.
Belgium
Your Belgian health insurance company assesses the extraction and the prosthesis as separate benefits. The Dutch bill and treatment codes do not automatically match the Belgian reimbursement rules.
Therefore, ask in writing before treatment which consent, documents and reimbursement apply to both the extractions and the immediate prosthesis.
