My prosthesis is broken

Keep all parts, do not glue anything yourself and call the practice before you come.

A complete upper denture with a clear break in the plastic base and a loose tooth.
Keep all parts and do not use household glue. Call the practice before you visit.

Safe Next Steps

  1. Stop wearing if sharp parts cause wounds.
  2. Save all parts.
  3. Do not use superglue or other household glue.
  4. Call to discuss the damage and possible urgency.
  5. Bring the complete denture.

Costs and reimbursement

What is reimbursed in this situation?

The explanation below is general. Your treatment, billing codes and insurance conditions determine the final reimbursement.

Netherlands

Repair of complete dentures is usually 90% reimbursed by basic insurance. You pay 10% statutory patient contribution and possibly the remaining deductible. For the repair of a plate or frame prosthesis, usually only supplementary dental insurance applies.

Have the repair assessed and billed by a qualified dental care provider. Damage due to careless use may be excluded from reimbursement according to the policy conditions.

Belgium

A repair may be eligible for Belgian reimbursement under certain conditions if it is carried out by a dentist or authorized healthcare provider. A repair billed directly by a dental laboratory is not always reimbursed.

When receiving treatment in the Netherlands, check in advance whether your health insurance company requires a prescription, certificate or other documents.

Avoid surprises: Request a written estimate and have your Dutch insurer or Belgian health insurance company confirm in writing before treatment what will be reimbursed. Information checked: August 2026.
