Pain or pressure sores

A pressure sore is annoying, but can often be easily assessed and remedied.

The inside of a complete upper denture is checked for a possible pressure point.
A pressure point is assessed specifically. Do not grind or file your dentures yourself.

When to contact us?

Call if you have persistent pain, wounds, swelling, a sharp edge or if you cannot eat properly. Do not grind or file the prosthesis yourself. Wear the prosthesis according to the telephone instruction, so that the site can be assessed during the check.

In case of serious or rapidly increasing complaints: contact a doctor, dentist or emergency care provider according to the severity of the situation.

Costs and reimbursement

What is reimbursed in this situation?

The explanation below is general. Your treatment, billing codes and insurance conditions determine the final reimbursement.

Netherlands

Check-up and simple aftercare shortly after placing a prosthesis can be part of the installed device. If relining of complete dentures is necessary, this is usually 90% reimbursed by basic insurance; you pay a 10% patient contribution and possible deductible.

The reimbursement depends on the cause, age and type of prosthesis. If you are in pain, do not wait for an insurance decision, but contact us for an assessment.

Belgium

The reimbursement depends on the cause of the complaint and what is needed: inspection, adjustment, repair or a new facility. Your health insurance company assesses these components separately.

Timely assessment is paramount if pain or wounds persist. You can then have the cost estimate for follow-up treatment checked with your health insurance company.

Avoid surprises: Request a written estimate and have your Dutch insurer or Belgian health insurance company confirm in writing before treatment what will be reimbursed. Information checked: August 2026.
